Opening a Tesla door from the inside varies slightly depending on the model of the Tesla you are in. Here's a general guide for the most common Tesla models:
Tesla Model S and Model X
- Model S (Older Versions): Traditional door handles are present inside the car. Simply pull the handle to open the door.
- Model S (Refreshed Versions) and Model X: They have electronic buttons near the top of the interior door panel. Pressing this button will electronically unlatch the door, allowing you to push it open.
Tesla Model 3 and Model Y
- Model 3 and Model Y: These models feature a unique door opening mechanism from the inside. On the interior door panel, there’s a small button marked with a door icon located near the top of the grab handle. Press this button to unlatch the door. It's an electronic system, so it requires the car's power system to be operational.
In Case of Power Loss
- Emergency Release: All Tesla models have a manual emergency release to open the doors if the car’s electronic system fails. However, it's important to note that using the emergency release can potentially damage the window trim or the door's sealing system, so it should be used only when absolutely necessary. In the Model 3 and Model Y, this release is a lever located on the interior door panel, near the bottom of the door.
